Help Setting Up My 50Gal Malawi

Nice choices on the Aulonocara :good:
As far as I know, it's not generally recommended to mix Labs with Peacocks as they have a different diet. Someone feel free to correct me but I think Peacocks prefer a meatier diet.
It is generally recommended to keep at least two females to each male, although the more females the better.
If Labs can't be kept with them, you could consider albino Aulonocara Baenschi as they are just as pretty.
You could have around 10-12 fish in the tank provided you have good filtration and plenty of rockwork.

filtration is no issue i have a fluval 205 external and a fluval 4 running on so thats like 1680lph on a 200litre system so thats ok and fair enough point on the diet aspect i was going to have a look around at different peacocks as i also like the acie and afra's they are nice i might choose a few species i like and have m/f ratio as 1/2 or 1/3 on a couple of species also what are the chances of them breeding and the young surviving

Filtration sounds spot on, always worth running two filters in case one packs up. I learnt that lesson the hard way
Provided there is plenty of rock and hiding places, breeding will happen on a regular basis. I found that 3 or 4 young survived from each brood in my tank, although that isn't such a bad thing as it kept the numbers low.

O well that's fine I'm gonna fill it with ocean rock and lava rock I'm gonna build it up like my reef tank so there's plenty of hiding places

Sounds perfect, it's what I used in my Malawi tank. After a few months, the rockwork all coloured up nicely with algae and looked great. I may be cursing you over the next few weeks, tempted to set up another Malawi tank myself now! ;)

I have been toying with the idea for ages but decided to just go for it now I have to shift on my ebjd and rainbows them its all going ahead in the next week or so
