Hi,

Can someone offer some assistance please?

Just got home from work to find my red Forest Jewel on its side at the bottom of the tank. It has lost all its colour Breathing appears to be normal but dose twitch when she/he dose... is not being picked on.

Tank stats

Ammonia 0.25
PH 8.6-8.8
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Temp 28c (82F)

I do weekly water changes every Wednesday so the next one is due in two days (Done at 20% clean gravel as well)
The only change in the last 24h is I cleaned my media in tank water coze it was all clogged up. Do not know the stats before I did this.

Please help Don’t want Forest to die she/he moves into its new home this weekend
Any assistance is much appreciated

Regards,
BoneZ

Sad to say she just died but would still like some help in findin out what could have caused it :-(

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
What is your tap nitrate reading.

You have an ammonia reading that could explain the death of your fish.
I would do an immediate water change and increase aeration in the tank.

Hi

Tank is 45us gallons (soon to be 90us)

1x Red Forest Jewel (1/2" now dead)
1x electric yellow (1 inch)
1x Clown Loach(2 inch)
1x Lombardi (1.5 inch)
1x silver shark (3 inch)
1x plecto (1/2 inch)
1x Melanochromis (1 inch)
1x zebrathingy (2 inch) ( White body black strips and red belly) maybe Astatilapia Latifasciata
1x venustus (3 inch long)
1x blue yellow thingy(2.5 inch) blue body yellow fins with black strips could be Oto Lithobates Sulphur

Not sure on the tap reading I will chexk it tonight

I have an UGF and an air ring in the tank. would that be an aproprite amount of airation

Will be doing a water change tonight

You do know that clown loaches and silver shark have to be kept in no less than a group of three.
Though I wouldn't add anymore fish till you get the bigger tank and it matured abit.

Yep the plan was to group them in the new tank once it is running ok

I did have other sharks but it was eaten 8 months ago

Have you got your ammonia reading down yet.
