OK I have a very pregnant blue platy who I think is close to dropping. She is very round with a gravid spot becoming very dark. I put her in a breeder tank put she got very stressed so returned her to my community tank. What should I do as I don't want her or the babies to be picked on by the other community fish. Here's some picture of what she looks like. When do you think she will drop. Thanks

She's close, but has a day or two left IMO.

The best thing to do for your fish is not to use any kind of breeding trap, but to add lots of live plants to your main tank. The cheap bunched plants, like elodea, cabomba or hornwort are best for this.

Yes, some of the fry will most likely get eaten, but unless you have multiple, large-ish tanks available, you won't be able to raise all the fry anyway; livebearers have, on average, 30 to 40 fry (but can have up to 70!), every 30 days.

OK thanks I'll keep watching and see what happens. I have a 5 and 10 gall if needed thanks again.

my boyfriend used a breeding trap and all his fish died that were placed in them sadly we wont use one again and have found plants and caves for them to hide out in :) excited to see your new babies :)

I think the plant idea is the best thing to do. Breeder tanks are also useless unless you want to spend the money to set up an entirely new tank, and you have to cycle it. If you can post a pic of the babies!
