Help Pregnant Platy

Hi i got a new platy today from a mate who is getting shut of his tank the platy is very fat i dont want to put her in a breeding trap i think she has been stressed enough today. If i leave her in my tank will the fry survive i have alot of plants in my tank or do you suggest a trap please help.

Has she got a gravid spot? If you look at her anus it will be noticeably square, this is a good indicator that she is 'due' pretty soon.

I would say put her in the breeding trap anyway mate, she will be fine.
 
If you have lots of plants there is a good chance they might survive but if she is about to give birth I think other fish can tell and they tend to try to hang around them....

We have just had a guppy that gave birth without us knowing and we don't have any plants.. We looked in tank the other day and noticed we had a baby in there, they were hiding within the gravel and cracks in rocks etc but we have since found 10 and they are all doing really well, we have them in a hatchery now though so defonately safe and sound.

It is just luck of the draw I suppose.
