ive had 6 deaths in the last 48hrs
i cycled my tank with filters from my other tank and also had guppies in there 1
what im finding weird is that it is only effecting the guppies, not the neons or the gobys

And the bristlenose.

perhaps the other fish are more resistant to what is going around in the water

My instinct is still an ammonia spike. When was the last death?

yesterday afternoon, last night i took everything out of the tank, washed everything in boiling water, put new plants in, used cycled water from my other tank to half fill it and then used de chlorinated water to fill it up, i dont really know if ive done right or wrong but i now know i feel everything is clean if you get my drift

Certainly won't hurt.

ok so i went to my nearest fishy shop today, with bottles of water specimens one from each tank, to be told my ammonia and nitrates were high. so people using NUTRAFIN testing kits throw em away, as they are so so very wrong...had my test kit had given me a correct reading i probably not have lost almost 99% of my fish!

It won't hurt as long as you didn't clean the filter by boiling too. If you did, you will have to start cycling all over again.

Did they show you the actual readings?

my readings now TANK 1
ph 7.6
amm 0.25
nitrites 0.25
nitrates 10

TANK 2
ph 7.6
amm 0.25
nitrites 0.25
nitrates 5

im doing 10% water change every day

my ammonia has come down today its between 0-0.25 and the nitrates were 0 in both tanks atm
from reading someone elses posts last night they were advised to do a 95% w/c so i did that this morning and i will again in the morning, ive not fed them since yesterday morn, to help. (poor things must think there throats have been cut) better that way than dead i guess

+1 for doing some research! Big water changes will only help your fish. Having no nitrates tells me your tank isn't cycled or suffering a mini cycle. Keep doing daily water changes, as big as you can. If you feel guilty, you can feed them a little, but just a little.
