hello
i am doing a graphic desing project for my uni degree
i have to come up with a corporate identity for a pet store. part of this project i have to come up with a packaging solution for carrying pets from the store to the home. i know that fish are carried in plastic bags. with a paper bag over the top.

my question is.... is there any other ways you would rather carry your pet ... something that is stress free for the fish? easier more practical?

all replies will be much apreciated !!

Perhaps something insulated for tropical fish. They should be in the dark as this reduces stress. Fish with spines such as some types of catfish have spines on their faces, which could pierce bags so maybe some kind of box. I'm not sure there's much scope in fish transportation methods. Does it have to be fish?

yep its transportation for fancy gold fish, tropical fish and marine fish

have no idea what i can transport them in other than a plastic bag and then design a paper bag to place over the top?

What about a waterproof polystyrene box cos they would insulate the fish from the cold, be dark and non piercable by spines or barbs

yea that sounds ideal that could be printed on and personalised aswell !!

thankyou both !!

You would have to think about getting them from transport container into the tank. Normally you would sit the bag in the tank and introduce tank water to the bag over the space of about an hour. Also they wouldn't be able to see out of the polystyrene box into the tank and so might be a bit disorientated if tipped straight into the tank. I would think about keeping the bag but placing that in a polystyrene box. Not so good envirenmentally; maybe you could offer a little money or coupon on return of the box and that way you would encourage them to come back again.

The box would float due to it being polystyrene but you are right about them not seeing out. Not the most environmentally friendly idea i grant you but it does address some of the problems presented. It's somewhere to start from that can be built on tho i guess
