i have female fighter, who is just. laying at the bottom of the tank  she has got extremely fat in just a few days, she moves wen u go near her but then just sinks, she seems to be laying nose down? asif her back end is tring to float? help please asap

If she isn't pineconing then it is swim bladder. Fast her for a day or two then give her a pea, thawed and shelled. Lower the level of the water so she can get to the surface easier and add a little salt 1 teaspoon per gallon. I find salt actually perks them up.

sounds like a swimbladder issue, do you have a seperate tank, any size will do?
yes i have many tanks, i am thinking dropsy by the way her fins are? shall i try and get pics? could that help?

pine cone? presume that means scales pop out liek a pine cone? if thats rite then yes she does look liek a pine cone lol is that bad?

right my male has swimbladder, and seems to be recovering well so heres what i did. :good: my guy was worse he was floating at the top on his side

put him in the 2.5 gal i had with only 2" of water (just enough to cover him when upright in full flare)
added an air pump and a little methylene blue to releave stress and his plant to make him feel at home (plan to fast him few days then feed pea)
later that day he took a turn for the worse, so i feed him a pea
next moring he was much better, not floating as much and able to keep upright
i haven't fed him for 3 days since the pea and he has just kept improving, now he doesn't float at all
so i gave him some food yesterday and still all good

good luck anymore info just ask :good:

if she is pineconing then its dropsy, go and feed her the pea, then fast her a few days then pea again, with her sinking seperate her in a complete different tank with only a few inch of water. hope she shows progress :good:

Pineconing is bad it usually means dropsey I have never had to deal with it but from what I have read it is a bacterial infection which means antibiotics. Make sure you follow the directions on any medicine you might be using very carefully, some medicine doesn't mix with salt.

If she is pineconing, it means she is retaining water. In that case you do not use salt, which will cause her to retain more water. The standard treatment for water retention (usually considered to mean that her kidneys are shutting down due to an internal bacterial infection or some other damage to the kidneys), the standard treatment is epsom salts. Just as you use it to draw off the liquid causing swelling, so also it is used for animals. The prognosis is bad. I am sorry. I would direct you to the emergency forum and Wilder or wuvmybetta. Pineconing signifies internal damage has already occurred. There are a few success stories. Try to get wuv or someone else who has experienced success. I also would not feed her, and I believe Wilder will agree with that in emergency.
