Can anyone help me please, my pleco has got white spot, I have taken him out and put him into a hospital tank. Also 1 tetra has it slightly, I have been doing part water changes to the main tank every other day (hoovering gravel and boiling the ornaments and fake plants) and so far no other fish have been affected - touch wood. I have been reading up on the cycle of white spot and know that eventually it falls off the fish and then multiplys and then reattaches itself to the fish again. Does anyone know how long all this takes, I know that some advise that turning up the temp will speed up the cycle but I am very worried that my pleco won't cope with the temp change. I have been doing a 100% water change twice daily to hopefully catch it at some point in the cycle and remove it from the tank. Do you think this will work? I am having to do the water changes anyway as the hospital hasn't had time to cycle itself with good bacteria. The fish have been in the tank for 4 days now and seem to be doing ok, but the spots are still very visable so not sure what else to do. I am prepared to these water changes for as long as it takes as long as it works to remove the white spot. Just wondered if anyone knows how long that might be.
