help please id needed!

hi all

went down the lfs today and saw this lovely little critter all on his/her own..

its about 2.5" long at the moment and its bright yellow with a bit of black on its tail and fin along its back. the guy said it was a midas cichlid but i think he got it wrong as it doesnt look like one at all. its very peaceful, quite a slowish swimmer, feeds from the top and swims all areas of the tank and its got quite big eyes compared to its body. he also said it will grow roughly to about 5"

i hope this piccy helps - sorry its not too good, only had a camera phone to hand.

please give me any ideas as to what you think it may be as im desperate to find out - thanks!!

It looks at least a bit similar to a Gold Severum. Do a Google Image search for 'em and see if that's what it looks like.

At that angle I'm not too sure but it does look like a midas - which get to 12".

edit: They are also aggressive and happen to be New Worlds - not African. You'd probably get more responses if a mod. could move this to the correct forum.

the midas pics i have seen are more orange than yellow and this dont have a bump on its head and its dead peaceful....

this looks like my golden severum when they r little also looks like red devil(the yellowish one) I have a friend of mine breeding them. When they comes out looks alot like that too. But since u said they r peaceful I think its a golden severum.
