Okay, I tested my water parameters recently and noticed that my Nitrite spiked. I thought it was no big deal and I just did a 50% water change but it is still way too high. I'm very worried and don't know what to do. Also, I am using test strips and I know how innaccurate they can be so, do you guys think that it is the strips. So, please, Help!

Test your water again. If you have nitrite, keep a sample of your water. Do a 50% change, then take that original water sample to the LFS and have them test it, and see how that compares with the result you got. If it's different, you'll know the problem is your strips. But those strips ARE notoriously innaccurate. My recommendation, if you have the extra cash, is while you're at the FLS, pick up a liquid test kit. Try API Freshwater Master Test Kit; it's around $30.

EDIT: Regarding adding salt; I'm not sure what that is supposed to do - and some fish (I know certain types of tetras & corries) can't tolerate salt at all, so if you try that, do a little research first to make sure you won't be further harming your fish.
