Help Needed!

I did hear mention of 'practice runs' - now that they've been having some, do you really want to give up now?
You might deprive them of the chance to show off.

I really don't want to give up just yet, but I have noticed my behaviour has changed a lot since trying to start breeding. I've been extra grumpy and sad at the same time, and I know it's because of my fish not spawning! lol

Aww babes :( Although I was very lucky, I do know how frustrating it can be to breed and I was fulling expecting a failed spawn once or twice.

Put up piccies of your boys and girls and maybe we can suggest another pair to try?

Give trying a break until new year would be my advice. This time of year people don't need to be stressing over spawning fish. When new year comes, put the pair divided into a 3-5 gallon tank and start conditioning them really well, prep your spawning tank and give them 2-3 weeks to get into prime condition. Prepare to spawn when you know you will be around. If that is a Sat/Sunday then put the male in the tank on Monday/Tuesday and let him settle in there until Friday alone. Chimney up the female, add her to one side and leave them be for 24 hours. Give them both a good feed. Release her Sat evening for 2-3 hours, chimney her again until Sunday morning, then leave them to it until you witness the spawn. This was the method I used and it worked first time.

How big is the spawning tank and what have you got in there and what temps? Pics of the tank would be even better.

Chin up hun, I'm sure it'll happen next time, they are just getting some practice in ;) xxx

Thanks guys!

I can take pics, but it might be another day or 2 before I can upload them. I've lost the usb cable for my camera, but my sister has the same camera so I can just use hers. It's too late now to go get it, so I'll go tomorrow and try and get the pics up.

I know I can try other pairs, it's what I have done and only 1 pair spawned (remember the video I posted?), but no babies came of it, prob coz the male ate the eggs.

I've got a whole heap of new fish coming in from Thailand next week   :look:

There is only 1 actual pair I have gotten, but I know I can use some of those females and males with my older ones.

I just want Jovi (sig) and Francois (aquabid pic) to spawn!
