I need help, i have a rio 180 tank, everything's been fine for ages, and suddenly i have 2 fish come down with finrot. i moved both fish into a 'hospital' tank, but lost 1 of the fish , i kept the other fish in there and treated it, but it was going darker in colour and it wouldn't eat swim or do anything, so against my better judgement i put it back in the main tank and kept an eye on it, it doesn't seem to be any worse and its now eating and swimming like normal, colour is still quite dark (red rainbow)......the issue i've got now, is my main tank is probably going to come down with fish rot too eventually, so i just don't know what to do, i have got interpet finrot meds, do i treat the whole main tank (take carbon out obv) or do i take the fish back out and put it in the 'hosp' tank again with a risk of it dying as the tanks not big enough for it, it doesn't eat or swim in there.... or do i keep it in the main tank and just treat the whole tank?

Either way what's my best way forward and how can i treat this effectively ?

Many thanks

How many fish and which type?
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph?

Is there any red, pink, white, fluffy edges to fins.
Are there any holes in the fins?
Do the fins have excess slime?
Do the fins have any red streaking running throw the fins?

When a fish goes darker in colour, stop eating, this can also be a sign of a bacterial infection,.

The interpet anti finrot and fungus med. I don't like the med much as fish can have a bad reaction to the medication.
Myxazin by waterlife a good med to use for finrot.

hi, got 28 fish, all levels are perfect, there is no streaking, just the tails are all frayed and ends missing, other than that they seem fine.
Do you advise treating the whole tank or not?

If you can't isolate the fish just add the med to the main tank?

If anymore problems don't hesitate getting back to your thread.

Good Luck.
