bought some freeze dried blood worm today,, my fish have not gone near it though as its continued to float on the top of the tank and although they are capable of it, they dont feed from the top. Any other ideas how to feed them it?

I also bought some of the freeze-dried bloodworm - they look like small spongy oxo cubes? Mine floated around on top eventually ending up behind the filter, with not much interest from the fish either! In the end I gave up and took it out. I think perhaps getting frozen would be better. I have also tried the ones in the sachets and the fish do seem to quite like them! - they sink as well...

do u put the whole cube in ?

as that maybe ur problem try swishing the cube around in the water so some of the worms fall of depending on how many fish u have depends on how much of the cube u have to let break away in the water but try 12 or more at frist then clean the left over from the bottem of the tank if possable :good:
i normal use blood worms as i go away on the weekend and thatv way the fish have all weekend to feed on the remaing worms

blood worms can also be use when intrudicing a new fish to ur tank try that and tell me if it worked for u i hope it dose

If it's the cubed kind I would definately break them apart. If they are the individual kind...try sprinkling in a few pieces of their normal food. In the frenzy some of the bloodworms will prob. get eat and they'll realize how tasty they are.

silly question here, is freeze dried the stuff you get in a tub? rather than the actual frozen bloodworms?

our fish love the frozen stuff, although have never tried them on the freeze dried stuff (assuming i've got the definition correct!)

is it any good? (apart from the problems you are having)

My fish seem to like both but the frozen are WAY more popular here. The newts, puffer, and dwarf frogs won't eat the freeze dried at all but go nuts for the frozen!

My fish beat the crap out of my hand trying to get the blood worms when I am swishing it around in the water, they all love it.

I was feeding mine frozen and had bought the dry kind and found that the frozen stuff will sink to the bottom and they go crazy for those. When I ran out of the frozen and would wait for the stores order I would use the dried kind and ended up picking most of the stuff out because it would stay at the top and the fish wouldn't go up there.

One thing about bloodworms is that shortly after I started using them I got an alergic reaction to them. One of my eyes swelled to twice the size and caused some breathing issus too. So if your using blood worms and you suddenly have itchy eyes then stop using them. Now I use shrimp brine and haven't had any problems.

i dont use the freeze dried, but maybe if you put the worms slightly below the water level that would help them sink?
bloodworm - frozen goes down a treat here and so does frozen brine shrimp, i take a little bit of water from the tank and then melt the cuble in that and add a few worms at a time

xXx

Sorry its taken so long to reply, ive had some family issues. Its the stuff in a tub, maybe i will buy the frozen ones that will sink. even with normal food my fish wont come to the surface to eat, they are lazy and wait for the food to go down to them
