Hey all,

My office betta fish has been struggling over the past few months. We noticed a small bump on his nose and were advised to treat his water with tetracycline. He's been through about four separate treatments, and after each one we think he's gotten a little better... but now it has stopped getting better. The bump on his face has gotten very large and red (about twice the size of his eye), and his energy level has gone down. What else should we try, besides keeping the water very clean?

Could you post a picture of the bump?
If it's a tumour, I'm afraid there isn't much that can be done.

That's what I was afraid of :( Pictures attached...

Has it eaten into his head, or is it all growth?
It does look like a tumour. Usually fish can live with them if they don't develop too deep into the fish's body, but if he's slowing down, it may be too far. The best thing you can do is keep him comfortable.
