Help My Gourmai

Just some video I took of my Gourami day 5 of treatment - Just thought I would post and make sure she looks good as this is last day of treatment

Click here for video: http://s898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/rebbarn/?action=view&current=VID00005.flv

Thanks again

Took a look at the video and she still dosn't seem right.

I would do another round of maracyn, but also add maracyn two aswell with the maracyn one.Have you noticed her going to the toilet. If so what does it look like.
What does her anus look like.

I have actually been using Marycn 2 the entire time ... should I add Maracyn? She has been going to the bathroom and it looks normal. I just took another look in the tank, and there is 2 peices of pooh that don't look like the rest kind of gross but have pics. These are new today, were not in the tank last night, and didn't see them coming out of her, but they must have as she is the only fish in the tank.

I forgot I also have tetracyclin here, should I go with that, or do another round with the Maracyn 2 and add Maracyn?

It might be the meds.

I would go in with tetracycline seen as she issolated.

As long as the poo not stringy and white, clear mucas poo. or red poo.

White stringy poo can be constipation, bacterial, internal parasites.
Clear mucas poo can be the fish is running on empty, or bacterial.

Ok I was thinking maybe the meds too, as the rest of her poo has been fine. Should I start with the meds today, or should I finish the last day with maracyn 2 do the water change and start tetracyclin tomorrow? On the package it says not to mix tetracyclin and maracyn 2 togethor.

Thanks

You need to get all the maracyn out of the tank first.
Water change and run some black carbon.

I wouldn't bother with the last dose of maracyn.

Antibiotics can cause constiption and the trots, like they do with us.

Ok I will go ahead with water change today, I added the last dose of maracyn in earlier today, so I will go with a water change today and add some carbon to the tank. Would it be ok to dose with tetracyclin say 6 hours after running carbon, or should I wait until tomorrow?

I would wait at least over 12 hours before adding the tetracycline.
Give the carbon time to remove the med.
Do another water change before you add the tetracycline.

Let me know how you get on if you don't mind.
Good Luck.

Well I started the Tetracycline today. I did a water change yesterday, ran carbon for 21 hours then did another water change and added the first does of Tetracycline. I don't know if that one day without antibiotics caused her to backslide, but she was definately doing the vertical (nose up) swimming and slight listing to one side much more frequently yesterday and today then she did during the previous days on Maracyn 2, but the tetracycline is in the tank so hopefully this second round of antibiotics will do the trick. I will keep you posted.

Oh, and I also wanted to ask about my male Gourami ... he has gotten over the fact that she is not in the tank and is back to his old self, but I have noticed that is orange colouring has become less apparent since the female gourami was removed. I remember reading that the orange on the males becomes more prominant during courting and mating, but just wanted to make sure I don't have to start worring about him now too. No other oddities with him, just the colouring.

Thanks

Hello, I added the second dose of tetracycline today, but noticed that I had a lot of staying at the top of the water today (foam like) which I know is a sign that the ammonia is high. Now I knew that the tetracycline would kill off any beneficial bacteria I had in my filter and was expecting this. I checked ammonia levels today it was 0.25 ppm this afternoon (nitrites was 0). The instructions on the tetracycline said not to do a water change until 24 hours after the second does so that will be tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday). I am concerned that the ammonia levels will get to high before tomorrow afternoon. Should I do a waterchange today (replacing the med in the new water) or will it be better and safe to wait until tomorrow. I do have a 10 gallon bucket that I can but replacement water into, add 1 packet of tetracycline (1 pack for 10 gallons per instructions) and then use that water with the med to do the change. But not sure how that will effect treatment. Am I making sense here? :/

Thanks

Just do a water change with the medicated water then.

Antibiotics seem to protect fish in bad water quality. I never lost a fish when using antibitoics in bad water quality.
But keep doing water changes to be on the safe side.

Hello, so today was the completion of the second round of antibiotics (tetracycline). I have attached a video clip, truthfully I really don't see any difference from when I first put her in isolation, but wanted to get you opinion of what I should do next.

Here is the new video: http://s898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/rebbarn/?action=view&current=VID00013.flv

And as a reminder here is the video of her after the maracyn 2 treatment: http://s898.photobucket.com/albums/ac185/rebbarn/?action=view&current=VID00005.flv

Sorry no video of her before I started treatment. Also she is still eating and poo looks normal.

Thanks

I agree there no difference at all.
I think I would do another round of tetracycline. You can being using antibiotics for up to a month.
