I think my lovely gibbiceps pleco - Brian - is dying
He seemed fine this morning happily sucking the algae off the glass but now he is just floating around , seems to be unable , or too weak to swim cant see any damage to his fins
he tries to swim down to the bottom every now and again but just floats back up earlier he was floating at the top and now is floating on his side
we have put him in a q/tank
he is definately still alive PLEASE HELP ME AND BRIAN !! :(

Sounds like swim bladder and to be honest it sounds like he's dying.
What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Okay .. Weve only had him eight days

hes an algae eater .. can he get swim bladder ?

is there any way to prevent him from dying ??

You can't help him from tipping up.
Whats is he doing now.

All fish can suffer from swim bladder, usually fetched on by bad water quality, poor diet, and unstable temp.

Look under swim bladder.

He is floating at he very top of the tank with his stomach facing up not doing anything apart from the occasional wriggle of his fins

Sorry I had to go out for an hour.

R.I.P.
