Help My Fish Looks Awful, Eye Is Swollen And Scales Have Come Off

Evening all

One of my fish looks dreadfull. His eye is swollen, a couple of weeks ago some scales came off his nose leaving behind a white patch. His belly looks like its turning black at the bottom and his fins look tatty. I dont know what sort of fish he is, he came in a pair (i rehomed them) and i dont know if he is male or female, all i can say is normally he is brilliant red and his partner is still normal.

Please help, his eye looks really bad and i feel awful for him xxx

Has he knocked his scales off on ornaments in the tank, or throw digging.
Any cotton wool on the fish body or mouth.
Any signs of darting, erratic swimming, gasping, laboured breathing, excess mucas, flicking and rubbing.
Is his tummy bloated.
Are the eyes bulging out.
Any white specs behind the lens of the eye.
Do the eyes look cloudy.
Any redness around the eyes.

2 angel fish
2 kissing gouramis
5 neons
2 misc red fish (the ones with a problem)

i have just fed them can i do a water test when theres fresh food in?

havent seen him digging, was rubbing his head against his mate when the scales first came off but appears to have give up now

no but eye looks hazed over now and there are white patches appearing on his fins

just rubbing a week ago against his mate when scales first came off but nothing now

not noticeable

Are the eyes bulging out.
yes and it looks very painful

eye is hazed over now

yes

Any redness around the eyes.
not noticeable but he's a red fish

Unfortunately red died an hour ago I have removed him and done a small water change, approx 20%. Should i treat the water with anything incase it was contageous??

Did look in a bad way.

Water changes on main tank for a few days.
It could of been columnaris.

cheers, al keep up the water changes and hopefully nothing else will happen, the angel fish were not impressed when i did the change though lol, dunno why they got so annoyed its red thats left alone now

Some fish don't like you messing around with the tank. Move things gently so you not disturbing them to much.
