I trusted my LFS when they said I could fish in my tank after 1 week cycle. I then read up on here and realised how wrong I was.

I went to a different fish shop and they told me I could put my fish in a bucket for 24 hours and put toxivec in their tank.

I have now just returned my 4 diamond tetras to their tank and they have turned white......

Is this really bad or is it just stress and they'll turn back??

It's not white spot it's like their whole body has gone pale... they are swimming ok!!

Can I do anything??

Thanks

Gemma

When the fish lose colour it is often an indication of their health. A bit like when you go into the room that has had the lights out for ages in total darkness and turn the tank lights on, the fish are not quite themselves.

I would just keep up the water changes as suggested in the other thread. If you are in the UK and your local LFS has bactinettes, i would advise adding that to give the filter a helping hand. It's not perfect, but best of a bad bunch.. My local Maidenhead aquatics has this stuff, not sure if they all do.

Sounds like they are just really stressed since there is no indication og any disease. I would suggest adding some beneficial bacteria to the tank. I've heard of soem packets of them you can buy in fish stores, not sure if they work. I've even heard of some fish stores actually "renting" out filter meida to help aid in the aquarium cycle.
