help my fish!! body's rotting decaying dieing

hey its ok, i dont mean to make anyone made, and i never intend to just deliberately kill fish, but i have been experimenting with puffers at work, and with friends tanks, and 3 is perfect for a heavily covered 10 gallon tank, it should do fine, and i have talked to puffer experts about it..... so i will take that side of the argument, its not like im stuffing in 20 and see how it goes, just one male, two females...

Hey Bizkut,

It seems pretty clear that it is time to stop adding fish until your tanks are well, very well, much more well established.

I am the queen of impatient, impulsive tank additions. But really when fish are dying it is time to boil your nets, dip everything in salt, dedicate impliments to individual tanks, and let the tanks get very established.

Hope the drama is over soon. :) and your tanks find their bliss.

I am with wuvmybetta, no salt in the oto tank.

I have heard that nitrite, nitrate, ammonia removers can cause the tanks to lengthen their cycle. Don't know the source though.

I did forget to mention, though, that usually puffers only do well in established tanks. Keep a close eye on them for signs of stress. The only problem is, you can not look at their tails to see if they are clamped their fins; this is something that they do when well. That and curl their tails around them like puppies.

IMO, if you are looking for a "clean-up crew" get soe ghost shrimp. I put them in my tank with the thought "If they get eaten, that's what they are there for. If they don't, then they'll eat all of the extra food that the puffers miss." This way, ottos won't be killed, just a feeder.

yeah, you can also watch the color of the puffers skin, and their eyes, they can have black, baby blue, and maroon eyes, all mean different things, but my puffers are doing ok

i put my breeder snails in my 20 gallon (worst off tank) to clean the algea, and to tidy up the place, so far they have eliminated like 90% of all the algea in the tank, and the fish seem to fine with them there, my fish seem to be alive, and not hurting, so its good for now, i work a lot so i never have time to do water changes, but i will tomorow for sure, i have it off, and i will concentrate on my tanks.....

but i thought to myself, as the filters are where they build up the beneficial bacteria, what happens when you replace the filter cartridge???!!

What kind of filter cartridge is it? My AquaClear has 3 different sections (carbon, sponge, bio-bag), but my eclipse has a biowheel and a different cartridge with carbon inside and a sponge-like material on the top.
