Hi everyone, as you may or may not know i'm new to fishkeeping i have had my juwel rekord up and running since june and i bought a pair of blue rams about three weeks ago. I noticed they were cleaning a spot on the bogwood last night and when i got up this morning there were lots of eggs! The male is guarding the eggs and even the female is not allowed near.

I need advice and lots of it please I have no clue what to do I'd only just got used to my tank nevermind babies!

The male will look after them for now, however, dont be suprised to find they are eaten, especially if this is their first spawn. Sometimes it can take them a while to get it right.

I would if you get the chance allow them to hatch, again the parents should take care of them unless they eat them first, when they get a little bigger you may want to get another tank to transfer them too, especially as the parents may well spawn again.

when or if they hatch, what and how do i feed them? will they except flake food? Thanks becky

Hi minxfishy, you were right about the first first spawn, i came downstairs yesterday morning to find they have all the eggs have been eaten boo hoo. I'm going to make sure they have a more secluded spot next time with more plants round it to protect them abit.

I havent really got room for another large tank but someone my fella knows breeds fish and has a small tank with a sponge filter in but no heater that he transfers them into whilst they are growing, he said it was about £10 is this right? would it be suitable?
