Help My Betta

I have posted this thread in the betta section as well.

I have a male betta in a 10 litre tank i do 50% water changes every couple of days. Today after doing a water change i noticed that he was swimming round in circles whenever i put the syphon near him.Now hes swimming upright with his head up. He will not eat anything ive tried flake, frozen bloodworm. Is he going to die i have put him in a 1 g tank but have lowered the water level so he come up easier for air. Ive only had hm a couple of weeks and have become quite attached to him. Any help would be appreciated.

Its sounds like he has a swimbladder disorder, which are hard to treat infortunatly. Use an anti internal bacteria med, or even better "anti swimbladder disorder" med by interpet, cut down on high protein foods and try to feed your betta some peas instead and moniter med levels carefully as doing lots of water changes with dechlorinator will help ease his condition.

That's what is sounds like to me too, although I've never heard of a Betta getting this -- usually only Goldfish. But I guess it's possible since all fish have swimbladders and presumably susceptible to one degree or another of having them malfunction.

With Goldfish, quick changes of water temperature often affects their swimbladders. When you made your 50% water changes (which sound like a lot so often), did you try to keep the incoming water temp about the same as what was in the tank?
