Hi someone please help....i am new to the world of tropical fish.
I have a female guppy (1 of 6) and i think she is either pregnant or unwell??
All of the other fish are fine, she looks really big in the belly area, and she seems to be constantly open mouthed as if she is panting almost. I cannot see if she has those black spots at the anal fin area as she is so dark in colour you cannot see???
I have put her in a breeding trap thing??? Don't really know what to do or if she is even pregnant at all

Help me ?

sorry for got to add, and this sounds a bit wrong but hey ho.....she seems to have a large/swollen vulva type thing at her back end???

Sounds like to me she giving birth, they pant when they are giving birth.

Hi, it certainly sounds like birthing is imminent

Unless you intend to ready yourself for breeding and growing on it may be better to leave her in the main tank and let nature take its course.

One or three may survive to adult-hood and the others (up to 20 or more!) will..........well disappear

If you keep her in the breeding trap untill she births then take her out soon after. The fry will take a few months to get to a size that the LFS MAY take them and you will need to rehouse them from the trap long before that. Also they will be breeding amongst themselves by then too

Keeping fry is sort of fun at the begining but becomes a liability very quickly. Once you save them then it's harder to cull
