My mystery cichlid Copadichromis sp. "Kawanga" (Makonde) is dying.

It has for a day hung around the top of the tank in a quiet corner, I jsut looked and he was upside down and stuck to the intake.

I have put him in my fry tank, to get him out the tank (i dont care about my fry, before someone points that out.)
Normally fish are things that qwhen they die you replace, but It was one of my first 'lids last weeek.

what can I do.

In the other tank he is upside down again and stuck in a plant, if i put my fingers near he swims off abit.

he still is unable to right himslef.

Iam jolly near euthanasia, he looks to be sufferuing and i cant allow that whilst i wait for a reply.

I do 20% everyday, my water is perfect, i only tested today

Oh poor you Doris that happened to me when I first started keeping fish. I lost a lovely bright blue scolofi cichlid and felt so cut up. At least he's not suffering anymore. Have a good old sob then carry on fish keeping. It gets easier x

If you told me 6 months ago I would be heartbroken when I lost a fish I would have laughed at you.

I thought one would just buy a new one and thats that.

Maybe with little guppies or similar, but about my cichlid Iam gutted.

He actually had a personality, something I never thought fish possesed.

I get 6 more in the post tomorrow morning, Iam worrying about them now.

If it helps, things get easier the longer you keep fish. You get used to them getting sick which they do from time to time.
Try and enjoy the new ones tomorrow.

He has gone now, I don't have a garden for burial and I refuse to flush something I loved down a toilet.

So I made a big paper boat, placed him inside, soaked it in lighter fluid, lit it, and send it off down the canal.

Well, ultimatley I suppose so, but it sounds much better if you call it a viking ship burial.
