Hi peoples,
can you help me decide between two tanks

1. 4ft x 60cm x 60cm = 116 gallon

or

2. 5ft x 46cm x 60cm = 111 gallon

dimensions are length x width x hieght, theres only a dollar between the two when stands are included. The intended fish are two oscars, the 5ft is longer allowing them to be further apart if they wish but is 46 cm wide enough for them to not act like they are in a corridor? ie not be able to turn around?

thanks

I'd go with the 5 ft tank, the 46cm depth is longer then the Oscars will get, you probably won't see them much get past 36cm. Extra depth is always nice, and helps make the tank three-dimensional, but length is the first concern with cichlids.

Definitely the 5 footer.
I went for a taller/wider tank and now wished i'd had the extra foot in length rather than the extra 3 inches in height and 3 inches in width

I would disagree that length is the most important, as a 35 foot tank that was 12 inches (30cm) front to back would be unsuitable for Oscars. But both aquariums you are considering are 18+ inches which is (IMO/E) the lest Oscars should be housed in.

But... beyond that little detail, I still agree with the above... I'd go with the 5 footer
