I had been to a LFS which has a tank full of african cichlids. They had peacocoks and electric blue cichlids.
But they had one specific species I could not identify.
I was pretty rounded in shape as compared to the other cichlids and it had alternate thick black and yellow bands running vertically. The LFS guy said it was african cichlid but did not know the exact species.
Sorry I do not have a snap, but could anyone tell me what fish is it?

hard to tell without a pic....ps. flavus maybe?
was it a mbuna? :S

No it is not a flavus (looking at the snaps available on the internet). Would like to add that it does not have the dark colored dorsal fins which most african cichlids have. Its dorsal fin was pretty transperent.
