I just bought a 30 gallon tank for $29 at the Goodwill. I haven't tested it for leaks yet, but the plastic "frame" around the top and bottom is cracked in several places... should I keep it anyway and re-seal it? The glass is in perfect condition... no cracks, scratches, etc. Please help me decide! Today is the last day I can return it! (I am planning on going by your advice if there are enough votes.)

I would test it to see if it leaks and how badly. If it's really bad, I would take it back. Did it comes with accessories, or just the tank?

Just the tank... it's raining outside (where I usually test my tanks), how can I test it inside without making a mess?

with a dust sheet (you might have one already or you might be able tog et one at a DIY store, people use them to cover stuff up when painting/decorating) and a LOT of newspaper. ;) and some towels, just to be safe. ;)

Adding a few gallons right now (with tons of paper towels wadded underneath the tank!). Wish me luck! *crosses fingers* :D

Well, about 5-6 gallons are in (I'm taking it VERY slow... just in case) and no leaks! I've decided to keep it and turn it into a marine tank for my picasso trigger. The 25 gallon is just too small for two tempermental triggers! (They are "tail-whacking" each other as I'm typing this. lol  )

Thanx for all the help!
