Help Me Decide!

i've just treated myself to a new tank; an AquaNano 40 (which is 55l); believe it or not, in my whole time in fishkeeping this my first ever brand new tank!

Now, I've narrowed my choices down to either dwarf emerald rasboras or threadfin rainbows and was wondering if anyone keeps either species and what your experiences with them are.

Pics would be nice, as I've never actually seen the rasboras in RL; only online and would have to get my LFS to order them in for me, and I think the rainbows probably don't look their best in shop tanks.

My water is soft and slightly acidic.

Any comments gratefully received, as I just can't make up my mind which to go for!

Personally I like the feather fins. Put them in a heavily planted aquarium and they shine. I would go 3-4 males and about 6 females. The rasbora of which you speak is that a sundadanio species?

Microrasbora Erythromicron, although Seriously Fish has it listed as Danio Erythomicron

Flutter, FWIW, I'd go for the Rasbo, simply because I am a huge fan of the microrasbora species. I have seen them in real life in a LFS, although didn't take any photos (sorry, if you'd have said earlier.....), and they are lovely.

Flutter, FWIW, I'd go for the Rasbo, simply because I am a huge fan of the microrasbora species. I have seen them in real life in a LFS, although didn't take any photos (sorry, if you'd have said earlier.....), and they are lovely.

Were they green? 'Cos they look more blue in their online pics

No, they were more blue than green - dunno where the "emerald" comes from? If I get a chance to pop in again tomorrow afternoon, I will - I want to see how much their CPDs are anyway - I'll see how good my phone's camera is.

I think the name confusion is because im sure they used to be a Microdevario (danio) or maybe its what they are now. Its kind of like the CPDs, takes ages to get it right lol.

They colour up really blue with yellow/green bands running down the body and pink cheeks/gills.

They dont really colour up in shop tanks very well and i tried taking photos but its night on impossible! They are really fast but shoal amazingly well!

I would deffinately go for the Emeralds as a main shoal! I have always known them as Crossband Rasbora if that helps lol.

Which would you prefer MBOU, CPDs or Dwarf Emeralds?
