i cant add anything to my tank!! i have bought about 4 new malawis within the last 2 months and my current malawis just kill them!! i have 5 cichlids altogether atm and they are: one male yellow lab
one male zebra
one male red devil
and one golden cichlid.
i have tryed to put new malawis in the same size n even slightly bigger and they dont even last a day! i have a 4foot by 15 by 18" and there is also a large kissing gourami and common plec. any suggestions??

Welcome to the world of Mbuna. Adding new fish to an established tank is never easy and it gets harder as they become adults.

I have found the best solution is to add juveniles, the smaller the better. They are not perceived as a threat by the existing fish and may well leave them alone - no guarantees though. :/

I have added adults twice and had no problems but I added 5 the first time and 7 the second time. In between I had rehomed several when I ended up with too many males. All harmonious atm. Touch wood. I believe it is not good to only add a couple at a time.
