Hi everyone :)
I literally set up my first tropical fish tank yesterday. I purchased 3 guppies (1x male 2x females) and a friend has given me 2x sunset platies (1x male 1x female).
After a lot of googling, I've read that with guppy's and platies 'if they're female, they're pregnant!'.
So I've got three pictures here and I was just wondering if anyone could just tell me whether or not they are pregnant.
I'm 99% certain that the platy I recieved from a friend is pregnant (because of the darkness of her gravid spot) so if anyone could confirm this and make a rough estimate of how much longer she has left - this would be greatly appreciated!

Apologies for the quality of the photos!

Welcome to TFF LukeAlletson.
My own assessment of the fish in your pictures is simple to state. I do not see any sign of your fish being close to a fry drop. Although the quote you have seen has a ring of truth to it, I am not seeing it in your fish. With the slight development you may have in your females, it will be at least 3 weeks before you see any fry.
That is a good thing since you have a tank that is not yet ready for any fish. Over the next several weeks you are going to be in a fish-in cycle with your tank which means you will be doing frequent massive water changes. Please have a read through of the fish-in topic that I link to in my signature area. It is there simply because so many people arrive here with no advance preparation for their fish and are left in the position that you are in where they must conduct such a cycle. In your position, I would approach your friend that gave you the platies about having him/her give you some mature filter media. That way you could finish the cycle much more quickly.

Thank you!
I was pretty sure that the guppies weren't pregnant, I was just concerned about the markings of the platy? It's the black mark really. I've been told that the fish was purchased when it was yellow/orange (sunset platy) and obviously now has the black mark.
The platy is spending most of her time sitting at the bottom of the tank, only really moving when I feed them. From other pictures on the site I can see that she's not squaring off like some I've seen, but I'm just a little concerned about the mark - whether this is now a marking or her gravid spot? Thanks again for your last post - it was really helpful!

I always ignore the color of the gravid spot completely, unlike many other livebearer keepers. Because it misleads me more often than it helps, I have had to force myself to ignore it completely. It is not that I don't see the color changes, it is simply that I never use the color to judge the stage of any livebearer.
