Hi there,

I was given a 120L tank which also had some tetra in that I cant identify. They are def tetras judging by their shape and fins.

There are some which are pretty plain, mostly light brown in colour with markings that look like an eye in their tail fin. Their eyes have a little bit of red outline.

There are also some which again are pretty plain mostly light brown. Their upper and lower fins have a black and yellow stipe, also their tail fin has just a hint of red in it.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Some one put together a fantistic list with pictures of many tetras. Could someone post a link here for it? Awesome job really.

I've looked through a couple of fish indexes, and while looking at them has convinced me my misc fish are tetras I never found any with markings like mine.... still more indexes cant hurt.

The second ones do sound like Pristella tetras (also sometimes called 'X-ray tetras').

Here's one place with a few tetra pictures at LiveAquaria. It's not a very complete list, though.
