 defo not white top as i have a breeding pair of those and the colours are more vivid. the colour of these are pinkish/purple with greyish stripes and yellow tips to tail and top fins.

Looks like a Afra White top

Cynotilapia afra "White Top" or maybe Elongatus?

Yeah sorry, Ive defo seen these before but im trying to think where and what were the name xD...

Metriaclima zebra
http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=809

Looks like that imo

Were did you get them from ? What were they sold to you as ? Were they in a mixed malawi tank ?

I may be wrong but malawi's with lots of thin lines like they have are typically of the Metriaclima species ...

i was led to belive they were blue zebras, they were in a tank full of malawis that i bought cheap. checked the one you sujested but the colours are wrong, mine are pinkish/purple rather than blue.

But if you read it or did a little research it said the M. Zebra's are found in a wide variety of colors from blues, to purples to white etc

I agree with Ace of Spades, they look like m.zebra to me. Though if they are from a "Mixed African/Malawi Tank", they're most likely hybrids, could be a cross of m.zebra and something else.
