My daughter tipped loads of fish food in my tank a couple of days ago and the water went misty... Today i woke up and saw 1 of my male sword-tails on its back trying to swim then it just stopped moving and my fighter fish has lost some colour in its face and its tail looks as if its rotted away or the fish have been eating it but i no they all get along. It also has white marks on its tail ive herd that the food can poison the water if you put too much food in so today i took out bout half of my water and put more back in and so far the colour has sorta come back on some of my fish but im still worried bout my fighter fish what else can i do to help them or am i on the right track? O i also put some stress coat and stress zyme in the water after changing it. Please help i dont want no more fish dying and really wana save my fighter fish its soooo beautiful and my daughter loves them. :)

I'm afraid the food your daughter tipped in will be rotting away in the bottom of your tank sand poisoning your fish. You should really have syphoned it out right away.

As it's now an emergency situtation, do two or three massive (75 or 80%) water changes (wram, dechlorinated water; don't add anything else) and get rid of all the rotting food.
Make sure the heater stays covered with water, or turn it off and turn off the filter.
Don't feed the fish at all for the next few days.

Don't touch the filter, except to gently rinse it in some old tank water if it gets clogged up.

How long has the tank been set up and how big is it? Is it cycled at all?

Well its been set up about a month now and not sure what the liter is but i no its 36incs and what do you mean by cycled??? And i have not feed them since she done it which was Saturday 18th June and all the food was gone later on that day as i have 2 catfish aswell which i think they ate it all do you think they will be damage instead it seems what i done may have done it but im just still a little worried the fish seem fine and alot happier since i changed the water just a bit gutted about my fighter fish  And thank you :good: I have just done what u said and change bout 75% of the water and not put nothing else in it but before i done that i found another fish dead which was 1 of my leopard guppies my silver shark started eating it! Do you think any more will die now really don't want no more to! O and i gently rinsed my filter it is a brand new 1 which i got last week i was not too sure if it needed it so i just done it anyway! I woke up this morning and ive found my fighter fish DEAD  will they all die on me?
