Hi guys, I am new to the forums.
I have been reading threads here for about 2 months, trying to get my new tank all nicely set up.
Everything is going ok, but I have 2 questions:
#1. My main tank is about 70L. I didn't know very much at all about fish keeping when I set the tank up, so I made a couple of vital mistakes. First of all, I didn't know about cycling, so the first fish I put in were 2 Beunos Aires tetras and 2 Bristle nose catfish, then about a week later I added 10 neon tetras. As you can imagine this led to all sorts of problems with ammonia etc, but I did my homework etc, and finally everything settled down (ammonia, nitrite etc). Then I added to the tank 2 male guppies. 10 minutes after they were added, one of the guppies had it's entire tail eaten, so I put the BA tetras into two seperate little fry tanks that hang inside my big tank. I bought a new tank off ebay, and when I went to pick it up, the guy also gave me a heap of new fish. 2 huge bristle noses, 3 male guppies, a female guppy, a male and a female swordfish, and a few unidentifiable babies. I took them home and put them in my tank.
Here is my problem (sorry for the huge long boring story): I don't want to put the BA tetras through another cycling tank. They already had enough pain and suffering while the first tank was cycling. Is it ok to leave them in the little fry tanks while the new tank finishes cycling? They look quite sad, and one just keeps swimming into the wall trying to escape. Any suggestions, help would be greatly appreciated. I know I made some mistakes, but I am trying to fix them now, and doing lots of research so I won't make anymore dumb mistakes.
Question 2: The new tank from ebay came with one of those filters that plugs into the power and sits inside the tank, but there is no suction cups on the back of it. Is it ok to put blu-tack in a fish tank? Can anyone think of another way to make it stick to the wall?
Thanks guys,
Mel

I cant see any harm in it unless you keep them in for longer than they need to be (is it a net or a box).

I was wondering about the second qestion too as i havce also bought a tank on ebay with a filter but no suction cups

Yes but there is nothing to attach them to the filter with. :(

Also, one of the tetras is in a net, the other in one of those floating plastic boxes

the plastic boxes are very enclosed, the nets arent bad but i wuld be unsure of keeping one in a breeder box because they are so small
