My friend has gifted these freshwater fishes. Dont know the name and type.

It is a cyprinid, and I would suggest a species in the Rasbora genus, probably. There are several species with near-identical body shape and lateral line.

You should not mix livebearers which require moderately hard water with rasbora which require soft water. But, having said that, we don't know your source water parameters. Nor what other fish are in this tank. We need both in order to accurately answer.
