I had 6 guppies, 2 have died and I don't know why. My tank is cycled.

Just tested the water parameters:

P.H = 7.8
Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite= 0ppm
Nitrate = <10ppm

I was only feeding them flake food for about 4 months. Could this be a problem? I have fed them peas twice the last two days incase they were constipated. They just lie on the floor or at the surface pretty much motionless. They use to swim all around the tank and have a lot of energy. One has always looked a bit bloated with a crooked back that has developed over time. I can't see anything wrong with them other than them looking lazy. They aren't thrashing about any ornaments or anything.

Just brought some frozen bloodworms, daphina and some other stuff which i will feed them tomorrow incase its a problem with their diet.

Are guppies just weak? I was hoping to get a bigger tank but this has been very disheartening and has put me off fish keeping a lot.

Any comments would be appreciated!

15 gallon. Just had 6 guppies in the tank and a clown pleco. Can't see anything wrong with them.....that's the annoying thing! The black guppy use to chase the others around every now and again but nothing that seemed to damage them. He is also very lifeless so it can't be due to fin nipping.

Ohh its a 15 UK gallon. It's 24 inches long, 12 inches wide and 15 inches high.

Added anything new? Plants?

Or done a water change? Rinsed the filter in tap water?

Added nothing new. I have quite a lot of brown algae in my gravel and that's it. I always wash the filter in old tank water. I do about a 30% water change each week. Thanks for the help!

tbh.. I don't actually know.

You tank is plenty big enough for the 7 fish.

your water is fine.

feeding fish the same thing for 4 months wont kill them.

But I would still recommend getting a bigger fish tank, fish do die, could just been badly treated on the way to the fish shop.

Its just weird that all 6 seem to be dying at once! I don't seem to have done anything different...

could be anything to an air freshener, hair spray in your room

to putting your hand in the water while you have sun cream on.

could be anything.

They are also from different surpliers.

Should i do a huge water change? if so how much?

I'd be inclined to do a large (80 or 90%) water change and see if they look any better; there could be all sorts of things in the water that we can't/don't test for.

looks like there not getting enough air...

either ammonia poisoning
or your temp is set to high...

whats your heater set at?

and what test kits you using?

API master kit thing, 25C on the heater..

I think they were at the top coz they were looking for food, i haven't fed them today.

They usually spend their time at the bottom of the tank, not gasping at the top for oxygen.
