hi please help my fish are dying  after a heater malfunction water temperature  was off the scale 93 f  i've brought  a new heater and the water temperature is now 72 f but my fish are still dying i dont know how long the heater has been malfunctioning for ive done a 50% water change my setup is a 250l cayman tank 300w heater ive lost 6 guppies 5 platies 2 gouramis and all my fry over a five days . i still have about 10 more fish left will they die? ive had my tank for about five years with no problems

From the info you've given, the cause of the deaths would seem to be the high heat.  I had this occur once several years ago when a heater malfunctioned overnight and over-heated the tank.  Now that you have the temp back to normal, the surviving fish should be OK, unless something else occurred simultaneously.

Do you have test kits so you can measure pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

Byron.

All of the fish sustained an injury due to the heat.   The remaining fish might recover or they might die.  Depends on how long it will take for them to recover.

Sorry for your losses.
Sadly they would of been stressed and when a fish is stressed disease can take over.
Just keep a close eye on them.
Look out for problems like parasites, swim bladder, columnaris.
If the injurys are bad add half dose of melafix. But make sure your fish can tolerate it.
As melafix can cause problems with sensitive fish.
Increase aeration.
