I had my tank 4 weeks now and for the last 3 weeks i have just had a female cherry barb.

Yesterday I got another male cherry barb and a Julii Catfish.

My first cherry barb has since bitten Julii's top fin, but now the new male cherry barb is harrassing the female.
I think the male has distracted the female from nipping my catfish, but i am not sure what to do!

There is a big part missing, as you can see in the photo. sorry its blurry

a little fin nipping is nothing to be too concerned about, it will happen from time to time, however you should monitor the situation to see if it continuese or worsens.

did you just get the 1 catfish? they need to be kept in groups and it won't be happy by itself.

yes this photo was taken last night (about 15 hours ago) and its worst now.
But as i say the male cherry barb is chasing the female so she has stopped getting the catfish

yes just the one, he doesnt seem happy hes just swimming around the glass of the tank =\
might need to get another ..

i think the female cherry barb is only probably doing it because she has had the tank to herself for 3 weeks and wonders what these new fish are doing here :p

you need to keep the catfish (corydoras) in a group of 6+

yes that's probably right, the barb will be a bit territorial. try re-arranging the decor in the tank, this removes the territories and gives them a level playing field to start off from. :good:

I dont want 6 of them =\ it's only a 35L (10G) tank, and 6 of them would easily fill it ..

Mine harrassed the other community fish instanatly so i bought a new tank for them in my views barbs are an aggressive fish and should be kept on there own. the males will fight each other bighting there noses and spinning round if you add more males as well.

maybe you should get 4 corydoras then 1on its own is not good as they are sociable and shoaling fish
