hi today i went into my lfs and i wanted to add another fish as it has been 1 week since my first 6 zebra danios were added to my new tank. i noticed the baby paradise fish seems to attack the danio's.
what should i do!!
please help

HiYa and welcome

Things may settle down - give it a bit of time. Also the danios should be quick enough to hold their own...

 Hello and welcome i agree with wet things will properbly settle down just give it a little time . If you added the Danios after the Paradise was establised hes more or less flexing his muscles :flex: just making sure they know that he's the boss. I think also it comes down to the individual fish, i had a Paradise whom i've just lost :( and he was an absolute darling. He never hurt anything in my tank at all kept himself to himself. Hopfully in your case the Paradise will get used to them being around and realise that they are not a threat to him and calm down. Dont think that he will nessersary stop chasing them but that behavior will ease up.Good luck :D

 Sorry seemed to have got your post wrong thought you had added the Danios after the Paradise was in your tank. Really to me it makes little difference the Paradise which is termed as an aggressive fish is still trying to show his muscles. I f you havent any other fish in the tank that is an aggressive species then he is going to try to be boss :grr:. But as i have said before it comes down to the fish anyway good luck hope things sort out :)

Hi trulytropical :)

I'm not as optimistic as the others seem to be, that your paradise fish will settle in and become a good community tank citizen.

Paradise fish are anabantoids and are related to both bettas and gouramis. They are considered a semi-aggressive fish and are known to be territorial. If he doesn't settle down quickly, I would suggest that you bring him back to the lfs and exchange him for a more peaceful fish.
