Help. I bought an Emperor 400 for my 37 Gallon. it's too wide. The center strap of the tank is blocking the filter from fitting in the top fo the tank. What should I do. I don't know if I can cut that strap because it looks like it's a brace to support the walls if they bow out. I can't really cut the emperor.

what should I do. I bought it from bigals.com so I can't just run it back to the store.

DO NOT CUT THAT CENTERPIECE BAR FOR NO REASON...................

GET A EMEROR 280 OR CHANGE FILTER, YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR TANK!

I wound up getting a proquatics 300 from petsmart.

That should work well also, sorry about it not fitting.
I should have thought more closely about the actual continuous open space on the top of the tank. It missed clearing by 1.5" and I gotta say that filter was a monster. I may add a emperor 280 to the other side of the tank which would give me a combined total of 580GPH filtration which should be enough to keep Nemo's messy ass in some clean water.

Well Sky - you could look on the bright side... Now you have the filter for that much larger tank you know you want. :D

ALASKA
actually I don't have it anymore. I'll say I purchase the proquatics filter using store credit from one of the major pet chains.

The people at Big Al's are very understanding and friendly, give them a call. I imagine if you mail that filter back to them they would give you a credit.
