Yes its regular bicarbonate of soda that you get in the bakery aisle of supermarket

Just make sure it is pure sodium bicarbonate and no other additives.

The on i bought has no Glutein or aleminium

Under ingredients all it should say is 'sodium bicarbonate', the common name for which is bicarbonate of soda.

You can also add some crushed coral to your filter media and this will help buffer your water long-term.

Our water has essentially no hardness here, so cycling poses a problem. I just use a pinch of crushed coral in a stocking and over the course of a few days it will start to harden your water and raise the pH.
