well now i have my 90 uk gallon tank (360litre) I'ved finally decided that I want some nice cichilds in there.

I have a lot of plecs and catfish which will be in the same tank as well as a peacock spiny eel.

Geophagus has been suggested to me and I can get my hands on G. Jurapari

I have my eye on some Morph yellow cichlids(labidochromis caeruleus) at work, I also have taken a fancy to firemouths.

all suggestions and help welcome.

I will already have sevrums in another tank and I'll have a pair of convicts in a 3ft aswell soon so no need for mutiplies!!

Cheers.

I prefer surinam geophagus (see sig) :p I don't think africans would work too well with NW cichlids :/ Jack dempsey and green terrors are decently large, they could probably work :D

the G. Jurapari is the only oe I can get my hands on easily and I like them in the shop tanks so under descent lighting they should look great!!

I meant large as in quite a big community, not as in massive fish, although i am after the more "wholesome" fish!!

I'm looking at 4-7inch ish.

sorry could you say which are which??

do you mean african cats etc?? at the moment I have sevrums and an oscar in with pim pictus and they haven't even said as much as hello!!

also what do you think of my chooses/ideas so far??

I am thinking that a JD or GT is out of the question due to their agressive territorial nature espcially if the cats are soft bodied, they will be in a world of hurt. as for Geopahgians they make a good fish, and in a tank that big you could probably get away with having a decent group of them. just keep in mind that they are sifters they like to sift the substrate for their food, so small gravel or even sand would be best for them. with that said live plants should be potted if there are any at all, as for firemouths, pretty much the same thing only they grow faster as they are central american cichlids and for some reason south americans grow painfully slow when compaired to central american cichlids. but again I would watch for territory issues, you will notice that the bigger the cichlid the more territorial that it becomes, espically when they have fry or eggs in the area.

My friend has a GT and its mean and my JD are really territorial but they show awesome color when you use black gravel and if they are fed properly!
This is my favorite picture of my male JD so i try and post it as much as i can

Instead of the Yellow Lab, if you want a bright yellow fish, try the Rainbow Cichlids. they are NW and would work with firemouths and Satanoperca Jurapari.
A note on S.Juraparis, they feel safer in groups so get 3 of them to make them feel happy!!
I have Juraparis and Surinamensis, and my large surinamesis is very striking, more so than the Juraparis, but I have a soft spot for the Juraparis, and I agree with Paul, under good lighting they look stunning, but if you can find some surinamensis, go with them, or get both!!!

Darn oh well, the ones at work are only fry so would take a while to catch up with the others!!

Ok you confused me now, is Satanoperca the new name for geophagus? Unfortunately my Juraparis died over night at work as there white spot got worse, there will be some in Thrusday so hopefully they will be as good.

I'll be having a group of 4 Juraparis so no worries there.

I'll have to keep an eye out on what i can get hold of.

oh and 1 more thing......can i put some fish in like a group of clown loach and silver shark...for example!! :D

That's why my geo hasn't gotten too big in the last few months :p

Jewels, although african, can live in the same water conditions as Nws,

they get really ciolourful but hasv them in a group because they get a bit nasty at times

Right oh!!

Just a thought but would my Convicts be able to live in this tank aswell, I love my cons, but having thoughst of clsoing some smaller tanks down.
