I have 4 oscars 2 in a 55 and 2 in a 85 they are all about the same size about 8-10 inches. My question is how will I kno witch ones to put where? Do I just randomly mix and match until they mate? Wouldn't that take awhile? Is that even what I do ? I just don't even knoe how to start I breed other fish angels and electric blue Malawi cichlids is it harder to breed oscars? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Oscars are monomorphic, so makes it impossible to tell males and females apart, Breeding tubes <venting> is the only true way to know 100%,
Only true way i would reccomend is putting them all together, but have you thought it through, breeding oscars is hard work, you need alot of tank space, oscars usually lay to around 1000 plus eggs. feeding them will be intense, then you have issues such as wounded oscars if they decide to fight in tank, the bigger the tank the better, then you have the issues of unfertile oscars and even two females will go through all the rituals right down to laying eggs together.. If you do think you on your way and they show all the signs, it could be months before they would actually spawn.

your tanks are also not a suitable size to keep multiple oscars in im affraid. having 2 10 inch oscars in a 55g is way too small......

Agreed, sadly there is another popular forum, probably the biggest one on the net that tells its users that 55g is ideal for Oscars.

so sad to see such a stunning fish in a small tank. 1 at a push in a 55g but its not ideal by a long way
