So I have a black moore and I have had ( I thought it was a male) him for about a month. I have him in a large tank with a telescope calico. I got them at the same time from the same place. Recently I noticed he has a raised pimple like white dot on his back fin. There is only one and I don’t see any other spots on him or the calico. When I took the picture though, you can tell that one side of his stomach is larger than the other. Does he have ick, a parasite, is sick or in breeding mode could anyone suggest what I should do. He is the neatest little fish and I have grown very attached to both of them..
P.S
Yes he In a plastic container, no that is not his home he lives in a big tank. I put him in it to take the picture because he moves to much in the tank to get a picture.

Sorry the picture is not very visible. You can sort of see the difference in his stomach and the white spot on his back fin on the right side

Looks really big for ich to me too. Your fish also looks like he is pine coning from what I can see in the picture.

Its nothing to do with breeding condition males when the white spot is on the tail, breeding males get numerous white spots on their pectoral (side) fins and on their gills.

As said, that white spot is way too big for ich, personally I would say it looks like a Fungal infection and I would be treating the tank for it...

That aside, I disagree that the fish looks like it has dropsy (pinecone scales) because I think its just the angle on the photo, Black Moors that are starting to bronze out have a darker outline to each scale and as the fish are generally so round and swollen looking, when viewed from above, this gives the impression that the scales are all raised.

Just my thoughts :)
