I have two tetras in a 20 gal tank , Iā€™ve had them for four years now . I came home and as you see below it looks like the fin was nipped but thereā€™s what seems a growth or clot. Has anyone seen this before?

Not sure what this is. Hopefully someone will be able to help! Do a 50 percent water change every day to help prevent any infection on top of this. Good luck!

its a blood clot in the fin. the fin was either damaged or might have a minor infection.

do a big water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for 2 weeks.
make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

monitor the fish for secondary infections (fungus will be white and fluffy, bacterial will be red and inflamed - similar to what it is now). it should get better over a couple of days. if it gets worse then post new pictures.

The fish in the photo is a male Diamond Tetra (Moenkhausia pittieri), not a Black Widow Tetra (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi), just so you know.
