hi guys

this is the first time i have algae in my tank since i setup the tank 6 months ago...i have cleaned the walls of the tank with a sponge to rid the algae the last time when i did a water change...but within a few days..these green and brown patches are back...and the green ones looked feathery... what should i do to rid the algaes for good?

is a snail more useful or an algae eater...my tank is very small, around a 7 to 8 litres tank... so would'nt want a big fish in the tank...so is there any small and useful creatures that i can add into the tank?

Tank mates include 3 white clouds and 2 red-blue colombian tetras

Regards
Eugene

With most algae situations removing the light for a few days will help the condition. Also excess feeding is usually a contributor as this adds extra phosphate to the water which promotes algae growth. Do you have plants? If not add a couple and they will usually out compete the algae and therefore controll it. If you want a great algae eater for a small tank then the oto is your best bet get a couple cause they like to be in groups. HTH

Thanks!

i'll off the light and see how the situation goes!
