Hello everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum.. Name is Corey, I've been keeping aquariums for quite some time. Started with freshwater tanks when i was probably around 11. My sisters boyfriend at the time got me in to the hobby (he builds some amazing tanks, from terrariums to aquariums for large scale companies. and does other great work).. I went from having a planted FW to a saltwater tank while he was around.. After he left i took the tanks down and was fishless for about 7 years. Then about 3 years ago i started up a 29g fw planted tank and had it going for around a year and a half, took it down and did another saltwater tank with coral frags, etc...Everything was startign to grow great and tank was thriving, Then we had a large snowstorm in OCtober (very rare) which caused a loss of power for 3 days and my tank crashed (60 degrees tank temp and no water movement) which started a downward spiral and the tank has never come back up. So, i'm taking it down and going back to my roots of having a FW tank... However, this time around I am planning on having a more natural appearance, almost like i dug up a piece of a a natural habitat and placed it in my tank. My last FW tank was planted, but I never got that natural look that I wanted out of it.. very green and earthly looking
enough talk, heres some pics of what I used to work with.
FW before i took it down to start reef tank, as you can see it wasent very "natural" looking..which i didn't like
my "starting" reef tank that had fresh coral frags and looked very bare but things were slowly growing
this xenia was moved lower after pic taken and instantly opened more and was splitting within 2 or 3 weeks
i had other pieces fo coral but dont have pictures on my computer
I'm sure i will be posting a good amount asking questions, My biggest concern right now is giving whats left of my livestock to my buddy for his reef tank and then cleaning out the tank, rinsing it down good, deciding on a substrate and filling it and starting to cycle it. hopefully all within this week.
