Hi! *waves* Just introducing myself, plus showing off my little flock of bettas. I'm 18 years old, female, a first-year college student, and I have five bettas as of yesterday! XD

As of right now all my guys are in small bowls, as in less than 2 gallons, which I know isn't the ideal set-up, but it's worked so far and it's all I can manage. I do 100% water changes once a week (it totally eats up my thursday evening), and all my babies are quite healthy. Anyway, here they are!

Sangeo.jpg

Sangeo- I've had since September 2007, a birthday gift from my friends~ He's not looking too good in this picture, but he's a tiny little ball of energy most of the time.

Norang.jpg

Norang- I got him the day after Sangeo, and shhhh but he's my favorite. Don't tell the others, though. (Yes, that's me in the picture... x_x)

Keomi.jpg

Keomi- Got him June of this year. My first crowntail, with just the most GORGEOUS colors.

Haneul.jpg

Haneul- Got him this past August, about two weeks before I left for college. Another crowntail, he's the most photogenic of the bunch, and I love his mix of blue and yellow coloring. He's the unofficial favorite of my floormates. XD

Kongbaek.jpg

Kongbaek- The newest of the group, I just got him yesterday. His colors have gotten so much more vibrant today than they were yesterday in the store, so I'm a proud mommy... haha

Welcome :D

Splendid Siamese you have there

I got my first on Saturday (pic in sig below) He's called Brinn and he's Claret & Blue (Aston Villa, West Ham or Scun-thorpe - whatever :S ) [note: not trying to swear but the filter needs parameters adjusting to allow words within words]

I'm trying to find a Royal Blue male at the moment for my second tank, I just missed the last one at my LFS - gutted!

Aw they are all lovely. Welcome! You'll love it here and learn loads!
I will say though, in unfiltered bowls I would suggest more than weekly water changes, to keep your fish in the best possible condition. How about 50%, 3 times a week? Easier than 100%, you can leave the fish in the bowls while you do it, just try to match water temperature as best as you can so as not to shock them too much :p
I have 5 bettas too, it is an addiictve hobby :p

Welcome! I'm a college student too (2nd year), and I have one female Betta...though I am definitely thinking about getting more Bettas :D

Anyways, what lovely Bettas you have!

& you'll learn a lot from the people on this forum!

5 bettas in the dorms i presume? that must be interesting

Your current maintanence is OK, but what tibby suggested is certainly more ideal. It's hard with a college schedule to have that sort of time... but I manage with my tanks ... somehow. As I said though, you can get away with 100% per week if you must.

All of them are certainly stunners. I'm especially impressed with Haneul. Some very cool names as well :good:

Being that you obviously love bettas, you are going to love it here. There is a lot of good info. Good to have new member and a good betta keeper :)
