Hi there, my name is Callum. I'm new to this forum, thought I'd give it a go
smile.png

I've got a 240l tank with live plants and fish (obviously)... For fish, I've currently got 8 guppies, 11 neon tetras, 3 x-ray tetras, 2 dwarf frogs, 3 Yamato Shrimps and 2 silver sharks (not the best choice to keep the sharks...;))

My filteration system invloves a single Fluval 305 canister pump and a 205 as a spare. I have a single 300w heater and standard tube lighting as well as an Interpet AV3 air pump.

I've got a fair bit of knolege with my equipment but I'm always open to suggestions and advice as I will always try to help others in any way I can.

Cheers!

Hey buddy,

So far, all my frogs just hide behind rocks, plants and eat blood worm! Pretty sure they're bottom feeders, they swim up to the top for a bubble of air every now and then but they don't seem to be growing very quickly or very big for that matter.

Welcome to the forum.
I would say as the Bala Sharks get older they WILL become aggressive and most likely will have some of your other fish for lunch.

great ! i might consider some yet !

They are funny little creatures, very fast when they want to be! I probably wouldn't put them in if you've got very small fish, like baby ones.. Mr Frog might think they're breakfast, that's my only concern!

I heard of this, apparently they also need salty water when they're bigger too? I'm thinking about moving them to a different tank when/if I decide to get one..

Bala sharks are schooling fish. Unlike real sharks, they do not need salt water. The minimum tank size is 70 US gallons. (265 L)
You shouldnt need to think about moving them, IMO, you need to move them. Unless you want them to fill up on your fish.
Quote from LiveAquaria.com : "It requires a large aquarium with driftwood, rocks, and spots of dense vegetation. This shark does best in small groups of 3 or more, as they prefer to school in the aquarium. "
Most people say to have 5 or more, to stop them becoming aggressive.
