I have cory cats in with mine at the moment with a bolivian ram (will hopefully be a pair of these soon) and some otocinclus vitattus. I also have a single flying fox. Tiger barbs can be tricky as they can be very aggressive. You should plan on having a group of at leat 6, but the more the better. I currently have 14 and they are too busy picking on themselves to bother the other fish. I've read pretty much any barb will work them so you my check some of those species out. Just be sure to avoid slow moving fish or fish with long fins as tiger barbs are notorious for nipping.
