Hi everyone
new to this so if you could bare with me a bit.

at the moment i havent got anything special tank wise just a clear seal 21 gal or 100 litre tank, with a heater (forgot which one lol) and a fluval u2 filter. i have a red tailed shark, a rainbow fish, 3 danison barbs, a couple of golden wonders and a cat fishy thing which is still there from when i changed it from cold water. the tank has now been running for over a year, and other than fish dying from fighting no problems have arose. i am now thinking of upgrading to roughly a 180l tank and would like some more fish but am unsure what would work well with the fish i already have.

i dont no how soon i can upgrade but would still like some fish soon, i have been looking but thought i would ask because i dont want to buy a fish that would either kill or be killed. i have looked at dwarf gouramis, and love malawi cichlids but no that wont work.

any advice would be helpful.

my re tail and rainbow are both roughly 2-3 inches with everything else being slightly smaller.

any wierd or non common fish ideas would be helpful
Thanks
Liam

The red tailed fish will out grow you're tank pretty quickly. So maybe look at rehoming that, For fish you could get a good few catfish? Depends what you have in terms of catfishthingy? :p

yes sorry for being so vague regarding the cat fish, i had him from coldwater and cant remember what is was, all i know is its quite short and stubby, with a pinkish belly... sorry
also with the red tail how big would i need, he seems to be fine in the tank with swimming but he is still small i suppose when would i need to change the tank for bigger and what would be minimum size??? 36" by 24" by 18"

Sharks grow quite big, recommended tanks could be from 500L upwords. I would never keep any type of shark for this reason.

Could you get a photo of the catfish?

Haha, LFS will say anything to sell a fish. Am fairly sure sharks, silver sharks, red tailed sharks, There all the same in terms of growing to huge sizes, They prefer to be in packs of 6 or more and love large swimming areas

Sorry about this techen.

Red-Tailed Black Sharks do prefer large spaces but do not grow anywhere near the size of silver sharks, usually average out at around 6 inches, extremely rare cases have seen them at 9 inches.
They hate to be in shoals, prefer to be solitary in regards to other bottom dwellers. They are extremely territorial towards other catfish but especially towards other Red-Tailed Black Sharks. They have been known to attack/harass fish that inhabit the mid-tank, i myself have experienced this but he only chased them, nothing too serious but i would not recommend them with long-finned and delicate species.

I thought red tailed and silver sharks were alike but there you go, Am still learning myself. My friend had a 450L tank with 2 red tail sharks that were quite a size is why I would have jumped the gun, sorry :p

Would a siamese fighting fish be ok as they stay towards the top of the tank i think. Or would it get in tye way of the golden wonders and the rainbow fish. And than ks for clearing up the red tail tuxyu

I would not risk it. Not only might the shark get him but i would put money on extreme aggression with the Betta and Killifish (i presume these are the Golden Wonder (Killifish) to which you refer?
